I Broken Arrow provengono dalla nostra amata Italia e sono
la creatura dell’esperto chitarrista Nick
Savio (ex-White Skull e membro dei Vicious
Mary) autore di tre album (Tales from the
north, Public glory secret agony, The dark
age) con gli ormai defunti e già citati
White Skull. Il gruppo italiano presenta
alle nostre orecchie un power metal misto
all’ epic ed al classico “hard’n’heavy, in
due parole potenza e melodia. Questo “Abyss
of Darkness”, è un lavoro che sicuramente
non tiene i piedi in due scarpe, e presenta,
come già detto prima, parti aggressive che
non frenano pero’ gli istinti melodici di
questi cinque baldi giovani (Dave Baduena,
vox, Nick Savio, guitar, Giulio Bodoni,
keyboard, Steve Balocco, bass, Camillo
Colleluori, drums). Il risultato, dunque, è
un album diretto giocato su possenti riffs
di chitarra, come in “Abyss of darkness”,
“Angels of fire”, “The call” accompagnati da
potenti ritmiche che sono il risultato del
drumming di Camillo Colleluori. Nonostante
le evidenti influenze del mondo power (Helloween
e Savatage), i Broken Arrow propongono un
disco che desta attenzione sin dalla prima
traccia, e questo,a volte, anche grazie alla
semplicità dei brani(come la title-track).
“Invisibile heroes” risulta essere la più
heavy-metal di tutto l’album e molto simile
ad “Angels of fire”…;andando avanti con le
tracce, ci si imbatte in “The call” , il
brano più veloce e più originale di questo
concep t (…per me la più esaltante!!!)…ed
infine si passa alla prima parte della
“storia di Isacco” (“Isaac story”-part I)
che inizia con un incessante drumming che
sembra quasi non terminare più…ed alla
seconda parte della storia di Isacco (“Isaac
story”-part II) ancora più violenta, forse
ancor di più della già citata “The call”, di
fatti qui le tastiere svolgono un ruolo
quasi da antagonista, non principale ma
comunque sia importante.
Con Isacco termina quest’avventura chiamata Broken Arrow;ad
ogni modo l’ascolto di “Abyss of darkness”
potrà soddisfare i palati, anzi in questo
caso i timpani, di quegli ascoltatori avezzi
a certe sonorità classiche. |

POWER METAL meets EPIC and classic 'Hard n
Heavy' atmospheres! BROKEN ARROW match
together 20 years of music and bands like
Black Sabbath, Helloween, Savatage,
Queensryche and Rainbow. BROKEN ARROW
features Nick Savio, lead guitars of italian
power-metal White Skull for five years and
with them has recordered three albums (Tales
from the north, Public glory secret agony,
The dark age) and one EP (Asgard). Actually
he plays also with another hard rock Italian
Band call Vicious Mary who released one
album last year (Vicious Mary). His
favourite guitar players are Steve Morse,
Zakk Wylde, George Lynch and Yngwie
Malmsteen. Broken Aroow deal with a mix
between power and melody (Classic Metal
meets Hard n' Heavy with an Epic touch!)
tecnic and feeling, where the personality of
everyone looks first of all to the
composition and to the arrangments of the
tracks. The mains inluences for Broken Arrow
are bands who have writen the history of
rock and heavy metal like Deep Purple,
Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden,
Queensryche, Savatage, Helloween... The
result is something very original and
intense, the debut album 'Abyss Of Darkness'. |
